Coonskin aka Streetfight aka Harlem Nights. ( to Bakshi ) Is the most controversial of all films of Bakshi. On the surface, yes - it can look racist and stereotypical. But when you look deeper, when you pay attention, you will see it as the deepest darkest satire of a very real America that completely let down/set up/lied/betrayed its people. And continues too. Coonskin makes us open our eyes and SEE. Its incredible if you can see it. Bakshi lived in these streets . He understood the streets he lived in.
